ActivitiesSunday SchoolThere is a large Sunday School and children are welcome from the age of 3 upwards.
All the youngsters join with the whole congregation for the last part of the service. Sunday ClubThe Sunday Club caters for Primary 6 and 7 age group and all youngsters gather in the hall from 10.50 a.m. and join with the whole congregation for the last part of the service. Sunday Squad (formerly Sunday Alternative!)(for 1st year at High school and upwards) ChoirThe choir leads the singing every Sunday and new members are always welcome GuildThe Guild meets fortnightly, alternately on Tuesday evening at 7.15 p.m. and Thursday afternnon at 2.15 p.m. Prayer Group and Bible StudyThe Prayer Group takes place fortnightly from 7-7.30pm in the Session Room at St John's, on Thursday evenings. The Bible Study is from 7.45-8.45pm, following this meeting. We are currently looking at Professor William Barclay's Daily Bible Study on Luke's gospel. See Church news for dates of meetings. All are welcome to either or both meetings. Parent and toddlers groupThis group meets every Thursday morning in the Hall from 9.45 a.m. Anyone with young children is welcome to have some time together. Toys and playmates are provided as well as tea/coffee (served by someone from the congregation) and an opportunity for parents or grandparents to chat. Ladies groupIt is a very informal group, with minimum organisation (a committee of 3 which changes every 2 years). Gardening groupThis small group of people meet on a Friday morning at 8.30 a.m., to plant out the borders in the early summer and to cut the grass, weed and generally maintain the grounds, which are in a very prominent place in the centre of the town. A cup of coffee and home baking provides a welcome break. Friday Afternoon GroupThis is an opportunity for a chat, a game of Scrabble and a cup of tea. Bring along examples of your craft interests either to work on them or simply to share with others. Every effort is made to provide transport to any who would find it difficult to come otherwise. Drop-in at St.John'sThis group is to enable carers of dementia sufferers to have a place to come together for friendship and relaxation. They meet late morning on the last Friday of each month for soup and sandwiches. Leisure groupA group of retired people meet weekly in the Hall, on a Wednesday afternoon from 2-4pm, during the winter months. Hiring the hall Outside organisations are welcome to hire the hall for weekly or occasional events. For more information see Contact page. Justice & PeaceThe local Justice and Peace group meets on the second Thursday of each month 7.30pm in St Columba's Church hall. Plans are in hand for Cupar being accepted as a Fair Trade town. |
