Worship

At the heart of what it means to be the Church today is our love and worship of God. (as the old way of teaching, known as the "catechism" put it, our purpose "is to glorify God and enjoy him forever!")

We come to worship, not because our level of goodness gives us a right to be here, but because we share the good news that God first loved us.

In faith, we celebrate the grace of God, the undeserved love offered to all humankind, which is revealed in the forgiveness of the Cross and Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Together at St John's, the congregation is open to everyone, young or old, as together we learn to praise God as part of our everyday lives, to follow Jesus Christ who is our Saviour and Lord, and to be enabled by the Holy Spirit to share the good news of God's love for all.

We encourage all who would be disciples of Jesus today to worship regularly together as the Body of Christ, to grow through prayer and Bible reading, to share in fellowship and to reachout to the world, in a way which reflects the love, justice and mercy of God.

If you have been thinking about church membership or renewing your involvement please feel free to contact the minister for a chat.  If you are asked to attend a membership class, no previous Bible knowledge is assumed and there are no exams! The get togethers are at times to suit the people involved and are arranged in response to those who get in touch.
