St. John's Youth Newsletter December 2007Hello there! Here's all the news from the young people at St John's ChurchThis year's Holiday Club ‘Wastewatchers' was held on 6th-10th August. As usual there was a great group of young people and helpers who all had a fantastic time!!In the sessions from the summer holidays we've been looking at the stories of Ruth and Naomi, and then we moved onto the prophet Jeremiah. Through the events at the Potter's House (Jeremiah 18) we thought about how we are all created and shaped by God. We also learned that nothing can stop God's message in the story of King Jehoiakim (Jeremiah 36).26TH AUGUST This was Full Church Sunday when we were joined by the Old Parish Sunday School. We played games which focused on thanking God for our senses.28-30TH SEPTEMBER Megan and Ross took part in the Church of Scotland Children's Assembly which was held at Aberfoyle. They both met lots of new friends and had a great time!7TH OCTOBER We held a Bring and Buy sale to raise money for ‘Flush Out Poverty' a Christian Aid charity bringing fresh water to areas of the world where this is a problem such as Afghanistan, El Salvador and Senegal. We raised £263. Our thanks go to everyone who supported this event by bringing things, and by buying things!!On 11th NOVEMBER for Remembrance Sunday we all helped to make a lovely Poppy Wreath which was placed on the wall of the church next to the grown-ups' one.
The first DVD evening for primary school children was held in November. The film was Babe and enjoyed by all.Right now we are all working hard at getting everything ready for the nativity play which we will do as part of the service on Sunday 23rd December.
And we're talented too.....Magnus, Sacha, Alex and Adam all have parts in the next Cupar Amateur Musical Society show ‘Fiddler on the Roof'.Reverend Sheila is still feeling poorly. We all hope she is ‘on the mend' soon and send her our love.We are also glad to have Elspeth back with us.Our thoughts and prayers are with Anne, Thomas and their family in their loss.CONGRATULATIONS TO SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHER AUDREY WHO MARRIED ROGER IN ST JOHN'S ON 26th MAY!The Sunday School Christmas Party will be held on Sunday 16th December from 3-5pm.
